Rare Fossil Sponge cabochon set in Sterling Silver pendant necklace.

This free-form cabochon is Fossil Sponge from Mexico. I feel very lucky to have this beautiful and interesting material. I started with a small chunk, cut that into some slabs and from there made this cabochon. Its coloring is a light subtle lavender and polished into a fantastic glassy finish. I've set the cabochon in Sterling Silver with some granules of Sterling Silver on one side.

The pendant hangs from black leather round cord with a Sterling Silver handmade hook.
Leather cord can be shortened.

Sterling Silver backplate measures 1 3/8 inches x 1 7/16 inches ( 60mm x 37mm)
